Milestone Session At The Barn At One Loudoun | Virginia Family Photographer

MILESTONE & FAMILY SESSION IN ASHBURN, VIRGINIA BY A PHOTOGRAPHER IN NORTHERN VIRGINIA

M, the adorable toddler, just turned 18 months last May. The session that S, her mom, booked last April was for M’s milestone session. Of course, we also captured some family portraits so they can look back and remember how they are as a family during this special time in their lives. We did their family session at The Barn at One Loudoun in Ashburn, Virginia.

At this point in her life, M loves books, bubbles, and Barney. During the booking process, I encouraged S to bring M’s favorite books to incorporate into M’s milestone session. I know that this will make their family session all the more special because when M is a little bit older and is looking at these pictures, she will know that when she was 18 months, she loved books.

During the first part of our session, M would cry because she didn’t like that a stranger, me, was looking at her. So I pretended so hard to “not look at her”. The books that S and A, M’s dad, brought to our session helped her relax during our milestone session which is what helped me capture these photos. There were a lot of airplanes flying by during our family session and M loved looking at them; and that’s why we have some pictures of them looking up. Before M’s milestone session ended, I sang one of M’s favorite songs, Baby Shark, which made her warm up to me. She even let A hold her while I’m taking their pictures which she didn’t like earlier during our session. Before we said our goodbyes, I was able to interact with her for a little bit which made my heart really happy.

I really see a lot of myself in S as a mom. She loves to document everything in M’s life which is what I have been doing with my own kids. I actually created an email address for each of my kids which I’ve been sending an email to about their milestones. I plan to give them the password when they turn 18 so they will know all the important things about their childhood.

S and A – Thank you for letting me freeze this special milestone in your family, especially M’s life. It was an honor capturing M’s childhood and photographing your family. I surely had a great time with you & enjoyed singing Baby Shark for M! I am so excited to watch M grow. I can’t wait to capture her next milestone.
